Edizione originale, assai rara, il cui autore si desume dalla dedica, di questa guida artistica agli affreschi del Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo, scritta qualche mese dopo la cessione della proprietà da parte del Conte d'Espagnac e dunque preziosa testimonianza artistica prima che il palazzo fosse destinato a vari usi. Il magnifico palazzo estivo per la villeggiatura della corte Estense, costruito da Avanzini inglobando il vecchio castello noto come Rocca, subì parecchie vicissitudini durante il XIX secolo. Durante l'occupazione napoleonica, fuggito il duca estense, il palazzo fu venduto al conte Carlo Amabile Demarzit Sahuguet d'Espagnac e subì diversi passaggi, negli ultimi anni dell'Ottocento finì anche ad essere utilizzato da un salumificio e il grande parco del palazzo divenne un'azienda agricola. Tra gli artisti autori degli splendidi affreschi si ricordano Mitelli, Colonna e Boulanger. Buon esemplare, fresco e a p. margini (pagine leggermente allentate). Book.
