His early works, including a fine Hamlet, were Beardsleyesque in style, but after 1925 he was influenced by the Art Deco movement./The Somonyng of Everyman (The Summoning of Everyman) or Everyman, is a late 15th-century morality play. Like John Bunyan's 1678 Christian novel The Pilgrim's Progress, Everyman uses allegorical characters to examine the question of Christian salvation and what Man must do to attain it./John Paton Laurie (1897Ð1980) was a Scottish actor best remembered for his role in the sitcom Dad's Army (1968-1977) as Private Frazer. Following World War I, and training at Central School of Speech and Drama, John Laurie joined the Old Vic repertory company.
