Seller: Don's Book Store, Albuquerque, NM, U.S.A.
Trade Paperback. Condition: Good. 143 Pages plus four un-numbered pages listing a selection of Cassell's Famous Art Books for Students and Connoisseurs. The back cover is a bit tattered and a small piece is missing from the bottom. It is a staple-bound book with thin covers. Interior text pages with illustartions are white with no defects noted. This book contains a collection of illustrations of the works of the British School hanging in the Millbank Section of the National Gallery, better known perhaps as the Tate Gallery. They have been chosen from the large Illustrated Catalogue of 1900 with a view to giving as full a representation of the modern British Schools as the limits of space permit; and to these have been added some pictures placed in the galleries since the publication of that Catalogue, and a selection from the water-colours and the sculpture. The pictures consist of the Vernon Collection, given by Mr. Robert Vernon in 1847; and the Tate Collection, presented by Sir Henry Tate in 1894. Also included is The Chantrey Collection of pictures and sculpture, and a collection of paintings by Mr. G. F. Watts given at the opening of the Tate Gallery in 1897, and hung together in one of the galleries, and other works which have been acquired by the National Gallery.

This book's ordinances and laws, revised and arranged by the Town of Lake, offer an in-depth look at local ordinance-making practices in the late 19th century. The book contains portions of the Illinois state constitution and statutes, as well as the charter of the Town of Lake passed by the state legislature and includes provisions governing town governance, elections, and the duties and responsibilities of various officials. Also included are ordinances passed by the town's board of trustees pertaining to police and fire departments, public works, and other miscellaneous topics. Of particular interest is Article IX of the General Incorporation Act, which provides municipalities with the authority to make local improvements by special assessment or by special taxation of contiguous property. The book concludes with an ordinance regarding the publication of the general ordinances of the Town of Lake, passed by the board of trustees in 1881. This book will be of great interest to legal scholars, historians, and anyone interested in the history of local government in Illinois. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
