By the time Dr. Alex Delaware reached the school the damage was done: A sniper had opened fire on a crowded playground, but was gunned down before any children were hurt. While the TV news crews feasted on the scene and Alex began his therapy sessions with the traumatized children, he couldn't escape the image of a slight teenager clutching an oversized rifle. What was the identity behind the name and face: a would-be assassin, or just another victim beneath an indifferent California sky? Intrigued by a request from the sniper's father to conduct a "psychological autopsy" of his child, Alex begins to uncover a strange pattern of innocence, neglect, and loss. Then suddenly it is more than a pattern-it is a trail of blood. In the dead sniper's past was a dark and vicious plot. And in Alex Delaware's future is the stuff of grown-up nightmares: the face of real human evil.

The cheerful chaos of a California schoolyard is shattered one autumn day by a sniper's gunfire. No children are hurt, but the sniper is gunned down by the bodyguard of a politician visiting the school- and LAPD Detective Milo Sturgis calls in his friend, child psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware, to help the children deal with the trauma that's invaded their lives. The shock of the incident is quickly followed by another stunning surprise: the identity of the sniper. As the media feed the publics curiosity with a profile of the stereotypical lone assassin, Alex receives a second plea for help- this time from the snipers' father, Mahlon Burden. He begs Alex to conduct a "psychological autopsy," an investigation he is certain will clear his family's name. Alex is intrigued by the chance to explore intimately the forces that created such a twisted mentality and knows that uncovering the sniper's motivations could help the children deal with the shooting. But he is disturbed by the motives of a father who seems too self-involved to mourn. And Alex's role in the shooting's aftermath is already complicated by his strong attraction to Linda Overstreet, the Nathan Hale Elementary School's principal-a courageous, feisty, young woman with secrets of her own. Then there are the puzzling attempts made by a local politician to force Alex to step aside and let a slick psychotherapist with a canned feel-good message take over the children's therapy. Nathan Hale Elementary School has been the object of fierce hostilities ever since the busing of inner-city children to its suburban setting began, but as Alex becomes ever more deeply involved, he discovers that a wider net of malice has been cast-one that may already have claimed innocent lives. Before long, his relentless probing will make Alex himself the target of an obsessive and consuming hatred-and the catalyst for its eruption into violence.

From the personal collection of Fenriz, one half of the revered Norwegian black metal duo Darkthrone, accompanied by his extensive album-specific DJ notes, handwritten on the verso of a slip printed by the Norwegian post office. In a September 29, 2011 interview with Last Rites, Fenriz reflected on the tendency towards a more commercial sound in the late 1980s: "the near death of DEATH metal, luckily saved by Autopsy and other organic heads." Acts of the Unspeakable is the third album by California death metal band Autopsy, who are credited with pioneering death-doom. Previously, drummer and vocalist Chris Reifert was a member of Death, performing on their debut album, Scream Bloody Gore (1987). He formed Autopsy after Chuck Schuldiner decided to move back to Florida. Compact disc (CD), accompanied by the printed album inserts and housed in the clear plastic jewel case. Provenance: From the personal collection of Fenriz, acquired in September 2018 from Helvete / Neseblod Records in Oslo.
