(vakat), marmorierte Vorsätze (vielfarbiges, gerade gekämmmtes Kamm-Marmorpapier), marmorieter Kalblederband der Zeit auf 5 erhabenen Bünden, fünf Felder mit goldgeprägten gekrönten Monogrammen in je einem Rahmen aus Doppelfileten in Gol…dprägung, zweites Feld mit goldgeprägtem Titel, die Deckel mit vergoldetem Allianz-Wappensupralibros, Stehkantenvergoldung, dreiseitiger Rotschnitt, 16,5 x 7 cm. Mit dem gestochenen Titel von P[?] Mertens (Monogrammsignatur in der Platte); dargestellt im Strahlenkranz ist Sonnengott Apollo mit Leier und Lorbeerkranz (Daphne!) sowie steigendes Dichterroß Pegasus; zwei Hirtengötter halten die Titelkartusche. - Kollationiert anhand des digitalisierten Exemplars der ÖNB Wien und vollständig (VD 17 23:295628U zusätzlich mit zwei gedruckten Widmungsblättern für Herzog Rudolf August nach dem Titelblatt und sechs Blättern mit einem Nachwort Avemanns hinter Seite 690). - Der vollständige Titel lautet: "Hodegeta Horatianus sive Index omnium verborum in Horatii Poematibus contentorum absolutissimus, ita adornatus, ut quibuslibet Editionibus facili negotio accommodari possit opera et studio Danielis Aveman Brunopolitani, Vicarii ad D. Blasii". - Provenienz 1.: Der Band stammt aus der Bibliothek von Charles de Sainte-Maure, Herzog von Montausier (1610-1690), und seiner Frau Julie-Lucine d'Angennes de Rambouillet (1606-1671) und trägt das Wappen- und Monogramm-Supralibros des Ehepaars auf beiden Deckeln. Charles de Sainte-Maure, hochrangiger Militär und Beamter unter Ludwig XIV., hatte sich zum Katholizismus bekehren lassen, um Julie-Lucine heiraten zu können. Sein Liebeswerben manifestierte sich mit der 1641 erschienenen Madrigalien-Sammlung "Guirlande de Julie". - Der vorliegende Einband stammt von dem Pariser Buchbinder Antoine Ruette (1609-1669), in dessen Werkstatt fast alle Einbände in Montausiers Bibliothek entstanden. Die Deckel mit einem Dreifach-Rahmen (Streicheisenlinien) und gekrönten Eckmonogrammen "CL" (Charles; Lucine) in Goldprägung; im Mittelfeld der beiden Deckel in einem goldenen Kranz (Pelzwerk) unter einer Herzogenkrone (Laubkrone mit fünf Blattzinken) und dem gekreuzten Ritterorden zum Heiligen Geist (Ordre du Saint-Esprit) die viergeteilten Wappen der Herzogin und des Herzogs. Ein gleicher Einband ist bei Beauchamps/Rouveyre 1 (1884), 174 detailliert beschrieben und auf Tafel 29 abgebildet. - Provenienz 2.: Ex libris Jacobi Francisei Chéreau Sculptoris Parisii 1772 (Besitzvermerk von alter Hand auf dem vakaten ersten Blatt verso). Jacques Francois Chéreau, 1742-1794, Pariser Buchhändler, Verleger, Kunsthändler und Kupferstecher; wohl von Revolutionären ermordet. AKL 18, 438, 6. - Der Einband etwas berieben und bestoßen; der Rücken an Kopf und Fuß mit kleinen Ausbrüchen; die Stehkantenvergoldung nur noch reliktisch; innen dezent fleckig. Gutes Exemplar in einem dekorativen Prunkeinband der Zeit.
