The author questions the decision by the French to not engage in building airships, and degraded capabilities on the battlefield, and in this edition specifically details the casualties and impact of the early German Zeppelin raids on England in 1916. Only 14 of the aircraft survived the War, only to be destroyed afterwards, or turned over to the Allies.

First edition of this scarce souvenir book for the 44-E training squadrons at Gardner Field in March, 1944. The field located 9 miles East of Taft, CA trained cadets in Link Trainers, and single engine Vultee BT-13A aircraft, operated for 46 months, and managed to graduate 8916 pilots during World War II. First edition, 1st printing, of both volumes detailing the careers, personal lives, and extensive training of the over 1100 women aviators flying as WASP ferry pilots during World War II. They delivered over 72 different aircraft, logged 115,000 flight hours, and were crucial in the delivery of P-51, P-47, and P-39 fighter aircraft to the European theatre. Dorothy Scott was one of the pioneering women aviators, initially known as WAFS (Women's Auxiliary Ferry Squadron), and died in a mid-air crash at the age of 23, in Dec., 1943 over California delivering a P-39 fighter aircraft.
