AZIMONTI, agronomo meridionalista nato in Lombardia, lucano di adozione, scrisse molti trattati di agricoltura. nel 1905, accettò l'incarico di Direttore della Cattedra di Potenza e operò negli ambienti meridionali, dove prestò la sua opera di tecnico, agricoltore, politico e meridionalista per circa un quarto di secolo. Si stabilì nella frazione di Pedali, l'odierna Villa d'Agri. Qui costituì una propria azienda agraria e iniziò le collaborazioni con i giornali L'Unità" di Salvemini e il quindicinale napoletano "L'Agricoltore del Mezzogiorno". Esemplare da studio, ma dei prestigiosa appartenenza: In copertina la scritta a penna (autografa?) di Emilio LA ROCCA, torinese meridionalista e direttore dell'ANIMI della Basilicata, amico di Piero Gobetti e di Giustino Fortunato e Croce, che gli dedicarono loro opere. Contiene: emigrazione dal potebtino, Basilicata, Appennino Lucano, consorzio, filloassera in Puglia, sciopero di Cderignola, lotta contro il latifondo gelsicoltura e frutticoltura, problema idarulico. spropositi agricoli, dogane, coloni senza terra e senza scorte. occupazione delle terre incolte, bonifica del latifondo ecc. Così com'è.
