Gastrocopta armigerella (Reinhardt, 1877) has been described from Japan and is widespread in the Far East and China. Surprisingly, a few occurrences in central and western Asia have also become known. Forcart (1935) found G. armigerella in northern Iran. The authors found evidence of G. armigerella in western Tien Shan, Kyrgyzstan. The form from northern Tajikistan described by Schileyko (1984) as G. huttoniana agrees morphologically with G. armigerella as well. Gastrocopta huttoniana is known from western India and the Himalayan region. The evidence of G. armigerella from central and western Asia has come thus far from drift material at the high water line in river floodplains which suggests that these are sub-fossil or fossil shells (Holocene or Pleistocene) which have been relocated. No living example of Gastrocopta has been found there as yet. Possibly the species is now extinct in this region. Gastrocopta theeli (Westerlund, 1877) is the most widespread Gastrocopta in Eurasia. Its area ranges from the Caucasus to the Far East. The findings reported here are the first for this species in western Tien Shan. 11 pp., 9 figs, gr. 8.

Indisputable Chondrinidae, Granariinae species, characterized by shell shape and apertural dentition, are known from Eocene deposits to the Recent. The generic classification of the extant species is based on conchological, anatomical and molecular data that are available now for most of the known species, including 'Granaria' persica as a representative of the once problematic group of so-called eastern Granaria species. According to molecular and anatomical characters, these eastern species have to be classified with Granopupa granum in Granopupa. Graniberia gen. n. is introduced for G. braunii on the basis of molecular and conchological data. For the pre-Pleistocene species, two generic names are equally well available now, viz. Granopupa and Granaria. Shell characters only do not enable a decision here. For the sake of nomenclatorial stability we propose to use Granaria for these species. Because both molecular and anatomical data most likely will never be known for the fossils, it will remain unclear whether the combined extant and extinct Granaria species form a monophyletic group. New taxon: Graniberia n. gen. 11 pp., 4 figs, gr. 8.

At the occasion of a workshop of the thuringian malacologists, the current stage of the mollusc survey in Thuringia is presented. Further steps were agreed towards the preparation of the distribution atlas which is planned to be ready in 2010. The field excursions in the course of the workshop revealed species records in an area which was rarely investigated for molluscs yet. The record of the endangered snail Trochoidea geyeri at a dry slope near Walldorf (Landkreis Schmalkalden-Meiningen) is especially remarkable. 6 pp., 1 fig., 8.
