About this Item: Forgotten Books, 2017. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. Excerpt from The Trail of the Conestoga Miss Mabel Dunham, in her book The Trail of the Conestoga, has given an exceptional picture of the early immigration of these people. They came to this country to find it a wilderness, and almost within a generation, by their unceasing labours, they changed the landscape so that well-built and substantial homes fouhd themselves surrounded by cleared land covered with abundant harvests. It is such literature that makes us realize the background Of our country s story. We know and appreciate too little the initiative, patience and self sacrifice which characterized the struggles of our forefathers in laying not only the material but also the political foundations of our country. If we go back to early days, we shall find that the problems which perplex us are no greater than those they successfully solved. In their example we should find alike strength and inspiration. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works. About this Item: Macmillan, New York/Toronto, 1927. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover with dust jacket. No indication of later printing, so presumed first; dust jacket has original price remaining. Apparent US edition, rather than the Canadian edition. Title page gives Toronto as place of publication; dust jacket lists Macmillan New York. About VG/VG: solid condition for an older book with jacket: corners of front flap look trimmed, but I think it's original, as the price is unaffected. Book has a stiff bump to bottom of spine and a bookplate on front inside board. Jacket shows some wear around the edges, including an occasional small chip, but it's made of very stiff paper, almost card, and thus remains in pretty good order. Nice book. Novel about Canadian Mennonites. Seller Inventory # 000444
