Our first offering, "Guidebook of the Black Mesa Basin," is a 205-page 1958 quarto bound in black leather (or possibly faux leather,) including road logs for a three-day tour from Gallup and Holbrook through the Petrified Forest, Tuba City and Flagstaff, and Sunset Crater, ending with the Grand Canyon rim drives or else at Williams Junction, Arizona, as well as papers on oil, gas, helium, uranium and coal deposits in the area, and a paper by T.L. Smiley on the geology and dating of the Sunset Crater. With three "fine" folding diagrams (including "Fence Diagrams") secure and well preserved in the rear pocket. OUR SECOND OFFERING, "Red Rock Country," is a 264-page, 1972 "First Edition" hardcover in very-good glossy photographic dust jacket from the Natural History Press. Two books on related topics combined into a lot to consolidate shipping, the pair now reduced from $17.

No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1971 comb-bound softcover quarto may have originally been of only 41 pp., but other photocopied materials (copied to one side only) have been bound in, including an article on Salt Anticlines of the Paradox Basin by E.M. Shoemaker at el. from the Intermountain Association of Petroleum Geologists, an article on Paleozoic Stratigraphy by D.L. Baars of Fort Lewis College, an article on "Stratigraphy of Desert Creek and Ismay Zones and Relationship to Oil Paradox Basin, Utah" by Kenneth E. Carter from the 1958 Ninth Annual Field Conference of the Intermountain Association of Petroleum Geologists, etc. Thus, this volume is now 1/2-inch (1.5 cm. -- approx. 250 pp.) thick. Both the front and rear pale blue paper wraps are soiled and have separated but are still present, reducing our grade to "Fair." Not a thing of beauty, but fold-out map, Geologic cross-section of the Animas River Valley, remains firmly in place. Reduced from $22.
