Previous owner's name neatly stamped on front free endpaper, a little toning and spotting on first and last few leaves. Hans von Bulow as a Dresden-born conductor and composer; a student of Liszt, he was influential in establishing the reputations of Richard Wagner and Johannes Brahms. He married Liszt's daughter Cosima who later left him for Wagner. These letters are revealing of his early life, about which little else is known, and show his emerging talent and connections.

Frontispiece has music notes and words of "A Mesternek Liszt Ferencznek Isten Hozott" with tissue protector. Book contains 399 letters to numerous persons from 1881 to 1886. VERY RARE VINTAGE COPY.
