Loch am Fußschnitt außerhalb des Satzspiegels, sonst sauber. - Aus dem Vorwort: In vorliegendem Werkchen überreicht der Verfasser dem gebildeten deutschen Publikum eine erste Benachrichtigung von dem Wohnsitze der deutschen Vorfahren in Asien aus einer Zeit, in welcher sie von Europa noch keine Ahnung hatten. Bis jetzt wusste man von ihnen in dieser Beziehung nichts weiter zu sagen, als dass sie von Asien nach Europa eingewandert seien, aber aus welchem asiatischen Lande das blieb mit geheimnissvollem Schleier bedeckt, denn die Mythe, dass die Germanen aus Indien gekommen seien, dass ihre Sprache aus dem Sanskrit herstamme, wird durch Nichts unterstützt. Alle Nachforschungen blieben bis jetzt resultatlos, und keine der aufgestellten Vermuthungen war derart begründet, dass sie einen festen Anhaltspunkt darbot. Unter den asiatischen Völkerschaften findet sich keine Rasse, keine Sprache, kein Gott, woraus man mit Sicherheit einen Schluss ziehen kann, dass dort der erste Sitz der Deutschen gewesen sein müsse. Auch dem Verfasser dieser Blätter war lange Zeit kein Fingerzeig gegeben, um wie er es jetzt thut den Ursitz der Deutschen, der Sueven wenigstens, mit einem bestimmten Namen zu bezeichnen. Ein Zufall hat ihn darauf geleitet, die Vergleichung der Grundwörter ihrer Sprache und die Zuziehung einer uralten Urkunde, von welcher man nimmermehr einen Aufschluss nach dieser Richtung hin erwartete, Sprache, Name, Gestalt, Körperwuchs, Haarfarbe, Religion, kurz das ganze Signalement Alles stimmt so genau überein, dass wir nicht mehr befugt sind, die ersten Deutschen anderwärts zu suchen als in Idumäa, einem semitischen Lande.
