Eighteenth century panelled calf newly rebacked, the engraved title by W[ILLIAM]. M[ARSHALL]. a little dusty at the margins and with the fore-edge margin slightly chipped, the second title with a few notes in ink and pencil indicating that the author was Selden, and few pencil notes elsewhere, a few leaves in the second part with an old and faint brown mark in the fore-margin and a few other leaves with a brown spot, but overall a very good copy. *ESTC - R8530, this being the first, true, edition, distinguished by the 2-line imprint, the publisher's name, 'Mathew' with one 't', Editor's dedication signed: Nath. Bacon, additional title page (A1r), engraved, "Semper eadem or the uniforme government of England", signed: W.M. sculp:, i.e. William Marshall. A later reprint, 1672, but still dated 1647, may often be confused with this but has the imprint on one line only.
