Digo que la he puesto en Castellano, porque no puedo decir absolutamente que la he traducido, omito algunas cosas, extracto otras, y por lo común reduzco a menos palabras el estilo algo difuso del autor. De este modo juzgo se deben traher a nuestra Lengua los escritos estrangeros de varias clases. Quien fuere de contraria opinión, use de ella libremente, como yo he usado de la mia? Mientras que la segunda edición (1769) y, sobre todo, la tercera (1787) abundan, esta primera es rara. De hecho, en España no figura ni en el CCPB ni en los fondos de la Biblioteca Nacional y tampoco localizamos ningún ejemplar en ninguna biblioteca madrileña, pero sí existen dos ejemplares en la Universidad de Sevilla y uno en la de Granada.- // Refs.: Palau, 23079.

El traductor Eugenio Llaguno y Amirola (Alava 1742 - Madrid 1799), desempeñó cargos políticos durante el reinado de Carlos III. Miembro de la Sociedad Vascongada y Director de la Academia de la História. Eugenio Llaguno encabeza la obra con una advertencia "Al lector": "Puse en castellano y doy al Público esta Obrita, porque a mi y a otros nos pareció util: porque soy uno de los que creen que la casta de los hombres merece a lo menos tanta atención como la de los Caballos de Andalucía y las Ovejas de Estremadura: y porque estoy persuadido a que no piensa executarlo alguno de aquellos a quienes por su oficio pudiera tocar mas que a mí; entre los quales, como entre los Profesores de otras Ciencias, es muy raro el que quiere contribuir a la instrucción pública.
