Vol 1 has 24 and 584 pages; Vol 2 has 12 and 620; Vol 3 has 10 and 546; Vol 4 has 8 and 548 and unpaginated index (to all 4 vols). Volumes 2-4 each have two title labels (the second with chapter resumés). Fairly clean tight texts with slight browning mostly to prelims etc and text edges. Some hinges cracking but all covers holding. Some brown stains to edges of endpapers and first and last few leaves. Vol 2 & 4 endpapers rather marked and Vol 2 3 4 some round paper scraps adhered to prelims. ?Contemporary armorial bookplate of Townley featuring their arms (Argent, on a fesse sable, a cinquefoil or, in chief three mullets of the second) in wreaths of flowers etc but not their name.
