"Par le marché 2480C du 13 avril 1927, la construction du dernier torpilleur de la tranche 1926 est attribuée à l'établissement des Ateliers et Chantiers de Bretagne (ACB) à Nantes sur l'île Saint Anne en face du quai de La Fosse.- Le Fougueux est mis sur cale le 21 septembre 1927 lancé le 4 août 1928 et armé pour essais le 20 avril 1929. Il entre en armement définitif le 15 novembre 1929, la clôture d'armement est prononcée le 15 juin 1930 et l'admission au service actif le 4 juillet 1930. [.] - Le Fougueux appareille de Casablanca le 18 novembre 1940 pour réparations à l'Arsenal de Toulon. Il arrive le 23 novembre et en repartira le 12 mars 1941, arrivant à Casablanca le 18 après une escale à Oran les 14 et 15 mars. Il est détaché à Safi et à Agadir en juin 1941. [.]".
