Grandma's House Restaurant was located in Yreka, CA. It was built and run by Doyne and Kenny Hopkins until , then passed to their daughter Florence, Flo, and her husband Tom Barnes. The restaurant closed in 2016 after 39 years of operation. According to Tom Barnes, Grandma's House served made-from-scratch dishes, and was well known up and down the interstate and around the United States. The recipes contained within this cookbook include family heirlooms like Grandma's House Bread Pudding (page 75) handed down from Doyne's mother and from other friends and family. A few recipe samples: Grandma Doyne's Oklahoma Style Dumplings, Ethel's Carrot Cake, and Flo's Famous Fish Dish! There are a few recipes from the grandkids as well, of particular interest are the ingredients for "Thanksgiving Turkey for Company, " 1 big whole turkey (get the kind with no feathers on, not the kind the pilgrims ate. 1 big giant clump of stuffin." The instructions continue until "cook it for a real long time. If you're not careful, it gets kinda blackish, but you still have to eat it." The contributor's name is Jade.
