Seller: The Bark of the Beech Tree, Depoe Bay, OR, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Jay Hyde Barnum / Lois Lenski (illustrator). First edition thus. This is one of a series of 18 volumes called Dandelion Library. They are tête-bêche books, head-to-tail, so that you read one story, then turn the book over to start the other. Both stories end in the middle of the book, upside down to each other. This volume contains "Adventures of Robin Hood", a version first published by Random House in 1953; and "Pinocchio", the Lois Lenski illustrated edition, adapted from Collodi by Allen Chaffee, first published by Random House in 1946. The vibrant, black outline, pictures of Lenski are a nice contrast to the more painterly illustrations of Jay Hyde Barnum in the Robin Hood story. Don't get taken in by all the listings of this book giving it as published by Random House in 1953 or 1946. It's not! These people are just looking at the reproduced title page and copyright page of the original books. This book has no date, and no title page of its own, but it was published by Grolier in the mid to late1960s. There's a little wear to corners and edges of boards, but a very good copy, internally excellent.

Seller: Ebeth & Abayjay Books, Lima, OH, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Lois Lenski, Jay Hyde Barnum (illustrator). This offering is a volume in the Dandelion Library series. It's a double volume and contains Pinocchio which was written by C. Collodi, Adapted by Allen Chaffee, and was illustrated by Lois Lenski. It also contains Adventures of Robin Hood which was Retold by Eleanor Graham Vance and was illustrated by Jay Hyde Barnum. The book was published by Random House, perhaps in 1953, but the date inscribed on a loose end page of 1970 makes more sense. Apparently the book was once a Christmas gift. It's not an ex-library copy, is in very good condition, and the book has no dust jacket. The book is 6 3/4" by 9 1/4" with about 100 pages and colorful illustrations throughout. It's in really nice shape if you need this one to help complete your collection . . . and there's a lot of Lenski illustrations for Lenski lovers. Thank you!
