Firma di possesso di Piero Operti; l'Operti, nato nel 1896, mutilato nella Grande Guerra, fu antifascista di tendenza liberale e crociana ed autore di fortunate opere quali Il condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni, Civiltà antiche, Storia d'Italia. Qualche lieve ombra e tra…ccia d'uso. Qualche minimo segno a matita rossa e azzurra. Buon esemplare. Una croce adagiata sulle pendici è l'aspetto architettonico che con la sua forma suscita il ricordo del sacrificio. La mole architettonica si svolge in crescendo dalla prima gradinata fino a raggiungere la totale riposata compatezza dell' Ossario. Così anche il dramma si svolge in crescendo via via che si sale. L'opera comincia e finisce con lo stesso ritmo, tra due figure immobili, verticali. Nulla di macabro. Basteranno le ossa dei martiri. E sono un esercito . Dinamismo, sì. Ma dinamismo di sensazione, cioè fatto di forme e di linee, non di parole appiccicate alle forme e alle linee. Nella stazione La Falciata le figure essendo isolate, dovranno statutariamente reggere anche ciascuna di per sè stessa, come altrettante statue vere e proprie. Pure il legame ritmico non deve mancare. I capisaldi son le due figure alle estremità del motivo generale. Tra queste due si svolgono le altre figure che cadono a vicenda colpite a una a una, come avveniva nelle falciate delle mitragliatrici.
