Barringer, was a country doctor of the old school, and his brother, Dr. Donald, was a general practitioner in Lincoln. Dr. Floyd graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1939, and early in 1941 volunteered for medical service with Doctors For Britain. He served in the British Emergency Medical Service from July 1941 to April 1946 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Here he was a resident neurosurgeon during the war years treating both British military and civilians. Here he met and married Nurse Winifred Wain of Ripley, Derbyshire.". Inscribed By the Author.
