Hardcover. Condition: Near fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. First edition. Inscribed on the title page: "For Lee, who has met coyote. --Barry." An uncommonly on point inscription considering the book is Lopez's telling of North American indigenous Trickster Coyote mythologies based on his extensive research (presented in a bibliographic essay at the rear). His second book. Most of the stories are just two to three pages, and Lopez notes in his introduction that he's taken the license of "rewriting, translating, and adapting" these tales to eschew the stiff language of translation and to make them more accessible to a modern audience. A near fine book in blue cloth with just a touch of sunning to edges; in a very good or better jacket with light wear to corners and spine ends.
