First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Full, original, sheepskin binding. Title label for the spine has peeled off, leaving lighter-leather exposed beneath. Hinges cracked, but cords holding firmly. Minor wear to edges of boards. Early ownership name on the front endpaper and title page, "Richard W. Burton." Burton was a Virginia lawyer who served in Congress from 1841-1843. 156 pages. Some toning and light foxing but no significant damage or wear to the text block. There is a nice booksellers label on the inside front cover, "Joseph Martin at the lowest Northern prices, Main-St Richmond, opo. Mer. Coffee House." [we notice that this is the second copy online with this same binder/bookseller's slug - Martin's bookshop must certainly have been the go-to destination for Virginia lawyers!] This is the first American edition, with notes by William Waller Hening. A nice association copy. Please email with questions or to request photos.
