Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Vancouver: Tomas Bartolli, 1997. Distributed through Marco Polo Books. Square 8vo. Trade softcover. 196pp, with index. Numerous cartographic illustrations and map plates. Very fine. Bartrolli gives an account of the Indigenous people who lived in the area now called Vancouver before the arrival of the European explorers and traders. He then describes the early explorations of the North West Coast of America by the British, in particular, as well as the Spanish explorations and discoveries which he does in great detail. Lastly, he describes the explorations of Simon Fraser and David Thompson. Overall, Bartrolli has made an important contribution to understanding the early history of the region and what was said about the Native population in the region during first contact.
