Condition: Sehr gut. 174 S. Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - Since the early 1950s, Batuz has produced a body of work, moving from naturalism to abstraction, which gives universally understandable meaning to abstract forms. Rejecting the purely formal and materialistic aims of most abstract artists in this century, he returns to Kandinsky and other pioneers of the modern movement in his concern for the spiritual in art. This book presents the most recent phase of Batuz' passionate commitment to an uncompromisingly ontological art, an art that, in the artists words, "goes from life to being." The works in paper, begun in early 1979, represent not only an innovation in the use of paper pulp and other natural materials as a painterly medium, but also a new and profound apprehension of human existence as the fundamental issue of art. Born in Hungary, Batuz was forced from his native country by the horrors of World War II and spent several years in refugee camps. After emigrating with his family to Argentina in 1949, the self-taught painter devoted himself to art and the study of philosophy. His home and studio at Villa Gesell, where he worked in isolation for several years, evertically became a vital focus of artistic and intellectual activity in Argentina. Settling in the United States in 1973 instigated a new stage in his development, a more intense and open realization of the possibilities of abstract art that has brought him worldwide attention. Broschiert. Condition: Sehr gut. Qu.-8°. 62 S., durchgehend illustr. Sehr gutes Ex. - Texte deutsch / engl. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 700.
