Soft cover. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. Binding tight, interior clean and bright. Brown cover with black lettering and design with 4 tiny spots on front. Helena had a well developed sense of place. A vital mining community which had wrested the seat of government from Virginia City. By1900 the "queen City" boasted more millionaires per capita than any city in the country. They built homes to serve future generations with their Eclectic architecture. The grounds were planted by trained landscape gardeners with MRs. Holter bringing the first lilac bushes to Helena. Contains Victorian homes built prior to 1900. Twenty nine homes are highlighted with full page b/w watercolors and a short history. Map in back Unpaginated. Shanahan, Gayle (illustrator).
