L'autore di questo rituale, a suo tempo assai apprezzato, monaco benedettino francese, viene definito nel frontespizio e nella prefazione al lettore, priore, "Quondam Ecclesiae Latiniacensis" (di Lagnieu nell'Ain), e in seguito della cettedrale del Monastero "Malleacensis" (di Maillezais).
