Rebound in quarter black leather spine over marbled boards, lettered and decorated in gilt at spines. Text in French. From the library of J.P. Mayer (1903 - 1992). Professor Emeritus at Reading University and author of books on De Tocqueville, Max Weber and French political thought. He fled to England in 1936 having been a leading figure in the anti-Nazi movement in Germany. He then worked for Britain in the Ministry of Economic Warfare. A little rubbed at spines with inked stamps on the half title pages, otherwise sound, very good with clean text. Decent copy.
