The book is split into two parts, Part I dealing with Local Affairs during the War and Part II dealing with the Local Military Units and their history during the Great War.

Cloth. Condition: Very Good. "It may possibly strike some that much of the substance of this work is trivial - "the rustic cackle of our bourg," - without interest beyond the limits of Swindon. But the sketch of civil life of a large community during such a momentous period is not trivial, and if such an account could be found for some town of England during one of the great wars of the Plantagenets every detail would be prized by the historian." 352pp including index, with monotone plates.
