Collated, complete.Bound in contemporary panelled calf, with raised bands and red morocco spinel label. Bound without half title, as issued. With the original blanks and endpapers. Errata bound in middle of text. With list of subscribers to the rear.Engraved portrait frontispiece of Baxter, and woodcut page runners and initials.An impressive reference of British antiquities, being the best known work of Welsh scholar, classicist and antiquary, William Baxter.The work was greeted with hostility: Thomas Hearne, for one, opined that Baxter built 'wholly upon Fancy, without Authority'" (ODNB). Bound in contemporary panelled calf, with raised bands and red morocco spinel label. Externally, with areas of lifting to the leather. Damp staining to the boards. Loss to the spine label. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Joints are tender. Bookplate of one Thomas Papillon to the front paste down, with smaller book plate printed with 'Di. A* S.S*N.'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with tide marks to the endpapers and odd light spots. Good. book.
