A pale water line appears in the lower right margins throughout the page block, with short, shallow ripples at the bottom right corners of the final hundred pages; the pages are otherwise clean and free from owners' marks; the full cloth hard cover has a short line of pale adhesion at the top rear edge and mild discoloration at the bottom free corners; the dust jacket has a matching water line at the bottom left rear and at the corner of the front interior flap, as well as a few tiny edge tears and chips at spine ends and a thin line of creasing around the top edges, but is overall sound, now protected in a clear sleeve. viii, 508pp. incl. index.
