hardcover. Condition: very good(+). Richly illustrated with numerous b/w images and plates. xvi + 304 pages. 8vo, original light blue cloth, gilt stamped lettering and decoration. New York: Thomas Crowell, (no date, circa 1888). American edition. Rubbing to edges of covers and spine ends. Light soiling to end papers and covers, some wear to front hinge. A very good(+) copy.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Translated from the French by David Sharp M.B. Blue cloth covers with colour and gold illustration, a little worn round all edges and spine age-darkened.Text clean and firm. Patterned front free endpaper is missing and the back endpapers guttering is split. Very charming book for young persons which covers a huge variety of fauna, fish and insects etc and is well-illustrated with engravings.
