8vo. 1 p. Beantwortet eine Einladung zu dem 4. mittelrheinischen Musikfest. Er muss leider absagen, da zur gleichen Zeit das Sängerfest in Coburg stattfindet. - Am 15. April 1847 gründete er mit 45 Sängern den Würzburger Sängerverein, welcher 2005 nach ihm benannt wurde. Von ihm stammt das vaterländische Lied Sie sollen ihn nich…t haben, den freien deutschen Rhein, welches um 1848 (etwa über sogenannte Liedertafeln) auch Eingang in volkstümliches Liedgut fand. 1861 vertonte er den Text des Frankenliedes von Joseph Victor von Scheffel.

"Als Komponist zahlreicher, teilweise preisgekrönter Chor- und Studentenlieder (u.a. das Frankenlied 'Wohlauf, die Luft geht frisch und rein') war er auch im Ausland bekannt. Ferner schuf er Instrumentalstücke, Kirchenkompositionen und Opern ('Die Bergknappen', 1837)" (DBE). - Etwas angestaubt und mit stärkeren Läsuren am rechten Rand.
