Condition: 0. Property of the Count of Blome in Heiligenstedten. Color. Facsimile, c. 2000, of the lithograph with tone plate by F. A. Hornemann from 'Views of Noble Estates of Holstein' of 1850. 17 x 25.5 cm. Bekmünde was a small but old noble marsh estate. In 1599 Oswald von Sehestedt was the owner. It came to the von Blome family via the Rantzaus and Brockdorff in 1765. The manor house may have stood on the farm of Heinrich Looft, as it is surrounded by a moat. Like other manor villages where there were no longer any manor houses, Bekmünde only comprised farmers, cottagers and craftsmen. The former appearance of the village has been greatly blurred by modern building activity. Today, Bekmünde is increasingly developing into a modern suburb of the district town of Itzehoe.
