Slight rubbing and browning to wrappers (chiefly to edges); slight bumping to lower left corner; slight internal uniform browning throughout (chiefly to edges). 117 pages. Series of letters by the noted American stand-up comedian to his brother-in-law, actor John Drew Barrymore (i.e. John Barrymore, Junior; son of John Barrymore and Dolores Costello) while the latter was in Rome; correspondence mentions several in the family (particularly Bedell's wife 'Dede') and various personalities from John Glenn and Jackie Kennedy to Suzy Parker and Robert Stack (among others). Also notable for the series of comic captions for the various art works reproduced within (chiefly reproductions of sculptures by Rodin). Introduction by John Drew Barrymore (with his signature reproduced in facsimile). Signed and inscribed by Bedell in red ink on first preliminary leaf ('To Abe & Freida / Happy Chanukah & an extra candle too -- Love Lew Bedell').
