Each page measures 14 inches by 10 inches.There is some colour to the pages.A very detailed manual and a rare survival. The famous 'Staggerwing',first produced in 1932. Weight 650g.

First Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good +; light toning to wraps; light wear to tips and edges. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is secure in unbroken plastic comb binding; text is secure in binding with no torn or missing pages. Clean internals. 116 pp 4to. In 1941 the Army Air Corps needed an advanced trainer to teach single-engine pilots how to fly and manage systems of multi-engine bombers and transports (such as the Boeing B-17 and Douglas C-47). When the Army Air Corps contacted Walter Beech about building a twin-engine trainer suited to that important task the decision was made to use wood and not metal. The fuselage was fabricated in two main sections with the cockpit, built of aluminum alloy for structural considerations, and the aft section that was an all-wood monocoque design covered with plywood and bonded with synthetic resin adhesives. The horizontal and vertical stabilizers were wood covered with plywood, but the wood control surfaces were covered in doped fabric. The Model 25 had been completed and prepared for its maiden voyage into the blue skies over Kansas but crashed. After successful completion of flight testing by the Army Air Force, the Model 26 was accepted and given the military designation AT-10 and the unofficial nickname, Wichita. After the United States entered the war on December 8, 1941, the need for multi-engine trainers greatly increased, and by February 1942 Beechcraft factory workers were busy building and assembling the AT-10. This manual goes into the manufacturing details of the AT-10 Model 26 and probably was given to the Beech employees who were building the planes. This is a very presentable copy. It also includes 8"x10" B&W photographs of a Model 18s in flight (dated Jul 29 1941), a D17R Aerial Ambulance on the ground (dated 1937), three pictures of the AT-10 from different angles, one is labeled as such and marked CONFIDENTIAL (dated 8-5-41), one has written on the rear that it is an AT-10 (dated 8-5-41), and the final one states Model 18 (dated Nov 19, 1941). This is a very rare one-of-a-kind piece of WWII history in Wichita and about the AT-10 plane.
