Libreria Editrice Aseq - La Rivelazione di Gesù al suo discepolo ed evangelista Giovanni, quella che chiamiamo l'Apocalisse per antonomasia tra le varie Apocalissi giudaiche e cristiane, canoniche e apocrife, è una delle Scritture sacre meno familiari in Italia alle persone di studio, eccettuate, naturalmente, quelle che si occupano ex professo di Teologia o di Storia delle Religioni. I ventidue capitoli che la compongono, per quanto brevi, sono di lettura poco attraente. Ciò dipende forse dalle interpolazioni d'altra mano, che i critici moderni sospettano; da spostamenti di materia da cui deriverebbe qualche disordine cronologico; da eccessi di figure ecc. Il greco dell'Apocalisse è meno puro di quello del quarto Evangelo; lo viziano errori di sintassi ed ebraismi. Tuttavia io credo che il libro non perderebbe nulla, nemmeno della sua canonicità, se lo potessimo alleggerire del superfluo eterogeneo e ridurre alle scene fondamentali. Su quattro o cinque di esse, che hanno indubbiamente un fondo storico, richiamo l'attenzione, anche perchè mi sembrano fuori di strada nell'interpretarle i commentatori (dico i moderni non meno degli antichi) i quali, se si sono acquistati molti meriti nella critica formale (cito per tutti il Loisy) non hanno fatto opera sostanzialmente ricostruttiva. La ricostruzione era subordinata ad una precisa intelligenza dei simboli e dei fantasmi del sacro testo, la quale invece è mancata, lasciando sussistere i pareri più divergenti.…
