Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. In 1892, Ichnobates is traveling by train from his home in Boston to Rapid City, South Dakota. He is a wizard, a veteran of the Magic Wars that drove out the Greek Gods 1,400 years earlier. Along with the surviving animal folk that had done much of the fighting in the wars, he had fled the O…ld World to the Americas following the victory of the Anti-God. A thousand years later, when the colonizers came to the Americas, they brought with them the Murk, an evil magical cloud that carried with it the will of the Anti-God. The Murk had already driven the animal folk from their first home, and was now threatening their second, a village called Therikome. Seeing this new danger to the animal folk, Ichnobates travels to Therikome, warning them that it may be time to move again. Along with diverse mix of eight of the animal folk, and with the aid of a Thunder Beast named Daphne, the group treks five hundred miles across the Otherworld and Earth in search of a potential new home. Along the way, they have to contend with the Murk, a plantation owner named David Jeffs, and his minions from the cursed confederacy, but they also meet new allies along the way. The group has to also reconcile their very different outlooks on life and decide how closely to cling to their ideals as they face the dangers of the long trip. This item is printed on demand.
