Softcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. Small octavo. 267, [1] pp. Text in Russian. Printed wrappers with yapped edges, page edges unopened. Wrappers with some toning and yapped edges moderately worn, very good or better. Berdyaev was a Russian philosopher and theologian. Leontiev (1831-1891) was a conservative tsarist philosopher. Berdyaev appears in an interesting tale in *The Gulag Archipelago*, Solzhenitsyn writes that Berdyaev was arrested and accused of participating in a conspiracy against the government. He was interrogated by "Iron Felix" Dzerzhinsky, head of the Cheka. He clearly explained why he was not, and would never, be a Bolshevik. Not only was there no trial, he was freed!
