Soft Cover. Condition: Very Good. Second Printing. 251pp, bw & col ills, map. Pictorial card. Near new. In 1913 Sverre Berg left Norway to get experience in shipping offices in Glasgow and Nantes. While in Glasgow war broke out and he describes the devastating effect of U-boats and surface raiders on ship owners and the course of the war. He was appointed to Hong Kong, traversing Russia by train just before Russia's first revolution. He spent the next 24 years in Hong Kong, for a time he was the Norwegian Consul. It came to an end in 1941 when he was wounded while defending a six inch gun at Port Stanley with the Royal Hong Kong Volunteers and became a prisoner of war. Size: 8vo.

Quality softcover Large format .pp.vi + 251. illustrated. Very Good As New. ISBN 1921362073 Sverre Berg left Norway in 1913 to get shipping experience in Glasgow and Nantes. While he was in Glasgow war broke out where he witnessed the devatation on the ships and ship owners by the U Boats. In 1916 he travelled across Russia and Siberia just before the Russian Revolution to Hong Kong. He spent 24 years there part of which he was Norwegian Consul . It all ended in 1941 when as part of the Hong Kong Volunteers he was wounded and became a POW.
