Rev. Bernard O'Reilly, L.L.D. (death at sea 1856) written expressly for this edition is copyright 1884 - on that page is the news clipping of the obituary of Hanorah Minton - Bonds of Holy Matrimony page is blank - Death page lists Lawrence Minton September 1883 (Hanorah's husband) - her death is written again on a memorial page - no other writing - condition is pretty bad as it is not really connected to a spine any longer - a piece of green electrical tape across the outer spine - a host of other dog eared corners and edges that are bent - the has obviously been well loved and then not stored properly. This is not wet or moldy or in any way smelly.

An ex-library copy with full markings, including a shelf number gilt stamped on the spine and some library numbers written on the copyright page. Attractive old library bookplate on the front pastedown and other ink stamps and labels on the endpapers. The frontis appears after the title page. The text is toned but generally clean. Contains several photos (mostly but not entirely portraits) and a folding map. Contains some interesting content and photos of late 19th century images of the location of the Battle of the Crater in Petersburg. A sound reading copy.

Vincent Monteiro (1899-1970) fut un infatigable créateur de livres d'auteurs, de cahiers des Murs aux Poèmes, peintre et typographe. Une de ses toiles, "Les Boxeurs" est exposée au Musée de Grenoble. Jusqu'en 1955, il édita, pressa et illustra de nombreux chefs-d'uvre. Le dernier, "La Bête qui mangeait les jouets" de Paul Gilson, marqua la fin de son activité après un infarctus. Rarissime ouvrage.
