Condition: Good. Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge) paper. Sheet size: 20,5 x 16,5 cm. (8,1 x 6,5 inch). Image size: 10,7 x 9,5 cm. (4,2 x 3,7 inch).Possibly from a series of 17 landscape: 'Ruinarum harum Inventori Dn Jonae Umbach Jun. Pictori insigni. Haec aqua forti diducta tentamina D. D. Bernhardus Zaeck.' State: rare Provenance: Ex. Coll. Georg Denzel (1873-1959 and Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Denzel (collection mark: G+W D in circle; not in Lugt), father and son collectors from Munich.Made by 'Bernard Zaech' after an anonymous artist. Bernard Zaech was a 17th.c. German painter, engraver and silversmith from Augsburg. He often worked after Jonas Umbach. He was the stepfather of Matthäus Küsel.Condition: Good, given age. Light staining an soiling, Remains of paper tape on rear from attachment. Two holes in left margin from binding. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
