Man hat deshalb in allen ernstgeleiteten Musikschulen Kurse eingerichtet, in welchen durch geeignete Übungen eine Entwicklung des Gehörs, des rhythmischen Gefühls und des Gedächtnisses erstrebt wird. Ein Zusammenfassen dieser Übungen ist das sogenannte 'Musikdiktat'. Der Schüler versucht, eine ihm vorgespielte kurze Melodie aus dem Gedächtnis, also ohne Benutzung eines Instrumentes, aufzuschreiben. Die Anordnung des Tonischen und Rhytmischen ist die gleiche, die seit langem und mit besten Erfolg an der Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt am Main (Hoch'sches Konservatorium) praktiziert wird.
