The expedition, which was conducted aboard the Canadian government ship Arctic, patrolled and explored northern waters, landed several scientific parties, and annexed territory in the name of Canada. In total, the Arctic traveled over 10,000 miles and established depots and cairns across the Arctic Archipelago. Bernier's detailed account of his travels provides a wealth of information about the geography, climate, and wildlife of the Canadian Arctic at the turn of the 20th century. Bernier's vivid prose and the inclusion of scientific reports and photographs from the expedition make this book a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Arctic exploration or the natural history of the Far North. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
