Entonces llegó un hombre y cantó. Fue el poeta lírico. Después vino otro hombre y narró. Fue el poeta épico. Finalmente vino un carro lleno de hombres y, en vez de cantar o contar, hicieron vivir la palabra ante la multitud. Fue el teatro. Con el quedaron completas las tres voces de la poesía. Después pasaron siglos y siglos. En cada generación volvía el rapsoda y contaba; volvía el juglar y cantaba; volvía el actor y representaba. Y así siempre. Hasta que por fin llegó una mujer extraordinaria que se atrevió al mismo tiempo a cantar, a contar y a representar, fundiendo en una sola las tres voces melódicas para ofrecer al pueblo la Poesía Total. Esa mujer fue Berta Singerman". Alejandro Casona.
