Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Rare and obscure book published in Russian in Prague and written by Sergey L. Bertenson, who in "1918. was invited by Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko to the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked as a secretary of the directorate, the head of the troupe [5]; Later - deputy directo…r of the Music Studio at the Art Theater [6]. He toured with a group of artists of the Moscow Art Theater in the territory of the Volunteer Army, Georgia and Western Europe, and then with the whole theater and his music studio for Europe and America " This book is about those tours he took with the troupe. In 1928 he defected and emigrated to America and eventually Hollywood, where he died in 1962. Original covers are bound in later cloth and appear to be missing the back cover.
