Memoria letta nell'adunanza del 25 maggio 1862 della Società Agraria della Provincia di Bologna. Il Berti Pichat (Bologna, 1799-ivi, 1878), figlio dell'ufficiale napoleonico Jean-Baptiste Pichat, fu assessore e poi sindaco della propria città, nonché patriota, scrittore e, soprattutto, grande agronomo. Partecipò ai moti del 1831 e nel 1848 combattendo in Veneto, fu eletto deputato della Costituente Romana nel 1849 e partecipò alla difesa di Roma e di Venezia. Nel 1859 fu deputato all'Assemblea delle Romagne; venne poi eletto nella VII, VIII, IX e X legislatura, sedenso sui banchi della sinistra parlamentare, e fu nominato Senatore il 15 novembre 1874. Nel 1840, col fratellastro Augusto Aglebert, fondò la rivista Il Felsineo e nel 1847 un altro notevole periodico, L'Italiano. Manca ad Einaudi.
