Some pencil and ink marginalia, light browning, but overall very good wire-stitched in the original light card wraps. 24pp. Printed at the Royal Artillery Institution Printing House, Woolwich, June, Unrecorded. "The principles of the art of strategy must be understood before commencing the study of Military History. War is the decisive factor in international policy. It is only through a more or less veiled threat that foreign negociations [sic.] can be conducted." From this basis the paper develops a discussion of the techniques for the fruitful study of Military History with particular reference to the American Civil War. Beynon served on the North West Frontier 1897-9, Tirah, capture of Sampagha and Arhanga Passes, and the Great War. This copy with the ownership inscription and notes of [Maj.-Gen.] C[olwyn] H[enty] H[ughes] Vulliamy who also served on the NWF, Waziristan '22-3, Mohmand '35, Chief Signal Officer, Anti-Aircraft Command, 1939-1940; Signal Officer in Chief, Middle East, 1943; at Supreme HQ, NW Europe, 1943-1945.
