Therefore the research workers are always in search of cheap and alternative sources of the medium. The replacement of quantity of agar and sucrose, the carbohydrates and protein sources of the medium are therefore a challenging task. Further development of universal medium for fungal and bacterial plant pathogen was necessarily in need. To replace quantity of agar, gelling agents like tapioca and psyllium husk was used. 1% agar with 2% tapioca was a good solidified gelling agent for bacterial streaking as well as placement of fungal disc.
