In Eduard Bibers 1827 veröffentlichten Pamphlet wird Pestalozzi "als Heuchler, Verleumder und Verbrecher hingestellt. Bibers Buch warf Pestalozzi aufs Krankenlager. " Er flehte den Arzt an, er möge helfen, dass ihm wenigstens noch 6 Wochen zu leben vergönnt sein könnten, damit er sich gegen die Unwahrheiten zur Wehr setzen könne. Er schrieb wie im Fieber, aber was er schrieb, ist nicht mehr zu entziffern. Über weite Strecken verkritzelte er das Papier, ohne zu merken, dass er keine Tinte mehr an der Feder hatte. Pestalozzi konnte sich nicht mehr rechtfertigen. Drei Wochen, nachdem er Bibers Schmähschrift gelesen hatte, starb er, am 17. Februar 1827. Eduard Biber hat sich weiter mit Pestalozzis Leben und Ideen beschäftigt und wandelte sich dabei von seinem Feind zu einem seiner grössten Verehrer. Er ging später nach England und hat dort sein ganzes Leben eingesetzt, um Pestalozzis Ideen zu verbreiten und in die Tat umzusetzen." (Dr. Arthur Brühlmeier).
