Hülfsarbeiter", ein Herr Weber, in Zürich, Aarau und anderswo vorgenommen habe: [.] Wenn Sie Herrn Weber, der ein älterer u. wenig bemittelter Mann ist und die Arbeit meist außerhalb der Bureauzeit gemacht hat, eine Kleinigkeit [.] zuwenden wollen, so würde er es wo[h]l mit Dank annehmen [.] In Aarau sind die Ergebnisse seit 1864 während mehreren Jahren in Folge von Defecten des Regenmeßapparats viel zu hoch ausgefallen [.]" (a. d. Br. v. 23. Mai 1902). Robert Billwiller war Direktor der Züricher Sternwarte und daneben Sekretär der meteorologischen Kommission der Schweizer Naturforschenden Gesellschaft. Als Chef des meteorologischen Büros in Zürich wurde er nach dessen Umwandlung in die Schweizerische Meteorologische Zentralanstalt 1881 deren erster Direktor (bis 1905). Billwiller gründete 1882 eine meteorologische Station auf dem Säntis und ließ 1887 dort eines der am höchsten gelegenen Observatorien Europas errichten. Seit 1891 war er Mitglied des permanenten internationalen meteorologischen Komitees. Gegen den Widerstand angesehener Wissenschaftler führte er die amtliche Wetterprognose in der Schweiz ein. Er veröffentlichte Studien über Niederschlags- und Windverhältnisse, u. a. Der Talwind des Oberengadin' (in: Meteorologische Zeitschrift 13, 1896)" (DBE). Jeweils auf Briefpapier mit gedr.
